Support Workers provide a vital part in providing the people we support with the care and ability to improve their quality of life.

We are currently looking for Support Workers to join our team in Haswell.

West House, part of Essential Care and Support provide person centred support to an individual with autism and type 1 diabetes.


West House is a large, house situated on a working farm where we provide 24/7 care and support for the individual we support. The house is surrounded by the countryside with beautiful views and free onsite parking. Within the home are large communal spaces including a lounge and kitchen diner where you can support individuals with activities and learning new skills. There is also a large, outdoor space and workshop for activities.

 

The gentleman we support at West House has a diagnosis of autism and type 1 diabetes. He is outgoing and funny with interests in DIY, racing cars, fashion and going out to local places. Our staff team are based in Haswell and work 2:1 to support and accompany this gentleman out into the community to do activities such as visiting local attractions and going for walks. Staff provide support with all areas of daily life including meals and shopping.

 

Therefore, we are looking for someone who is active and outgoing, interested in healthy eating and likes to keep themselves busy doing activities. You’ll also need a calm demeanour with a supportive attitude. Ideally someone with experience in health and social care, particularly in supporting people with autism; or you are enthusiastic and willing to learn. This is a highly rewarding role with an opportunity to make a difference through high quality care and support whilst having fun with the individual.

Shifts vary over a 7 day rota that will include days, nights and some weekends.

Your role as a Support Worker will include:
 

Providing 1-1 and group support sessions

  • Creating engaging and creative ways to interact with the people you support
  • Help with accessing the community and taking the people you support to their appointments.
  • Set person-centred goals and agreeing on how to reach them
  • Help with personal care when required
  • Support the running of the home including the cooking and cleaning.
